MEETING AIMS:
Since 2005, IAFP’s European Symposium has been shaping the future of food safety by providing a forum for the exchange of ideas with colleagues from across Europe working in industry, government, and academia. The Symposium is an excellent forum to gain knowledge about the latest developments and techniques in food science and safety.
HOLIFOOD’s PRESENCE:
This conference was an excellent opportunity to highlight our mission to transform food safety assessment. 🎯
Firstly, Debora Serra from European Food Information Council (EUFIC) presented a poster highlighting the incredible work the project is doing to improve food safety in Europe by combining AI, big data, and stakeholder engagement to predict and prevent risks before they spread.
More importantly, the International Association for Food Protection (IAFP) has recognized Dr. Marcel Zwietering with the 2025 Europe Food Safety Award.
Dr. Zwietering, is a renowned expert in food microbiology and risk assessment, and was honored for his decades of contributions to food safety science and education. This award also recognizes his continued efforts in the HOLiFOOD project, where he works to construct smarter, more transparent food systems utilizing AI, big data, and risk-based technologies.
