Annual Meeting in Wageningen 2024

October 15- 16th 2024 | Annual Meeting in Wageningen

The HOLiFOOD project held its annual consortium meeting on October 15-16, 2024, bringing together partners to discuss progress across all work packages.

During these 2 days of work, all the activities foreseen were shared, along with next steps for the upcoming year.

All partners were highly involved, and each presentation benefited from insightful comments and suggestions provided by the audience. The overall result is a clear and well-defined plan for the next years of work.

Several advancements and innovations have been made thus far:

  • The development of AI models for food safety detection, focusing on lentils, maize, and poultry supply chains
  • Progress in technology development for integrated monitoring, including detection of Bacillus cereus in alfalfa samples
  • Work is being done to convert various hazards into comparable metrics like DALYs (Disability-Adjusted Life Years)
  • Discussions highlighted the importance of stakeholder diversity but also acknowledged “stakeholder fatigue”
  • Novel approaches for monitoring public risk perception through social media analysis were presented

Looking into the future, the consortium discussed strategies for enhancing collaboration and maintaining the integrated approach that makes HOLiFOOD exemplary. Moreover, education materials are being developed for various audiences, building on existing resources while avoiding duplication

As a reminder, HOLiFOOD aims to develop early warning systems for food safety risks through a holistic approach. For this, all key components of the risk analysis framework (risk assessment, risk management, and risk communication) need to be improved and integrated into governance practices.

Stay tuned for exciting developments on this project!
