Within the Institute for Global Food Security (IGFS), the ASSET Technology Centre provides leading mass spectrometry and spectroscopic platforms to facilitate the rapid identification of feed and food contamination and adulteration. IGFS has been recognised as a ‘Centre of Expertise’ by the Food Authenticity Network and the ASSET Technology Centre was awarded ISO 17025 Accreditation for herbs and spice authenticity testing. In 2022, ASSET was conferred as a Centre of Excellence in Agriculture and Food Integrity in partnership with the National Measurement Laboratory (NML) and QUB was rated joint 1st in the UK for Agriculture, Veterinary and Food Science in REF2021.
